I received my undergraduate degree through the University of Victoria, studying stress and coping during adolescence. My interest in the larger factors that influence our well-being led me to a Clinical-Community Psychology program at the University of South Carolina where I was trained in clinical psychology with children and adults. There I had the opportunity to be involved with refugee resettlement as well as community level research on child abuse prevention.
I completed my internship training and post doctoral fellowship in Los Angeles county specializing in childhood trauma. I was a trainer in the Triple P - Positive Parenting Program across Canada and the US and am trained in a number of evidence-based treatments such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) including Trauma Focused CBT, DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy), and CBIT (Comprehensive Behavioural Intervention for Tics).
